In Data as the foundation of intelligence we argued that the fashion ERP of the future will remain a system of record, but will also need to become part of a broader system of intelligence: data from different functions read together, connected to real business processes and governed by clear rules.
The question is where that change becomes visible first. In our view, the answer is customer service. It is the place where every customer order has to be accounted for, and where information from sales, the warehouse, logistics and finance meets around a single question: will this order reach the customer as agreed?
The pressure to answer that question well is growing. Efficiency is one of the ten themes of The State of Fashion 2026, and McKinsey notes that old advantages such as scale and low cost sourcing are no longer enough to sustain a healthy economic model.
What is order status visibility?
Order status visibility is the ability to see, at any moment, where each customer order stands: whether it will meet the delivery date the customer requested, which fulfillment stage it has reached, whether it entered the system correctly and whether it has been confirmed, together with its economic value.
Without it, customer service works from fragments: a delivery date in one place, warehouse availability in another, a pending confirmation in someone’s inbox. With it, the team works from one picture of the orders that matter.
Why customer service is where a system of intelligence shows first
A system of record tells you that an order exists. A system of intelligence tells you what needs attention and why. In customer service the difference is immediate: it is the difference between finding out about a late order when the customer calls, and seeing it while there is still margin to recover.
Customer service also sits at the point where the functions described in our earlier articles connect. An order confirmed by customer service moves into planning and production, an order waiting for warehouse coverage depends on stock, and an order ready to ship depends on logistics. Reading these signals together is exactly what a unified data foundation is for.
Four questions every fashion customer service team should be able to answer
- Which orders will miss the delivery date the customer requested? Late orders are easier to recover when they are seen before the date passes, not after.
- Where is each order in the fulfillment process? Knowing whether an order is still waiting for stock, ready for shipment planning or already with logistics turns a customer’s question into a precise answer.
- Which orders were not acquired correctly? An order that never entered the system correctly does not appear among late orders: it needs its own view, or it goes unnoticed.
- Which orders are still waiting for confirmation? Confirmation is what lets an order be picked up by planning and production.
Each answer is more useful with its economic value next to it. The number of late orders says how many problems there are; their value says which ones to solve first.
How Stealth Cosmica applies it
In Stealth Cosmica, the fashion ERP by Deda Stealth, a user who logs in with the Customer Service profile finds four operational KPIs on the first screen, one for each question. Order Delivery Status shows compliance with the delivery dates requested by customers, from overdue to on time. Customer Order Status shows where each order is in the fulfillment process, from to be allocated to shipped. A third KPI shows the orders blocked during import, which require operator intervention, and Orders to Confirm shows the orders still awaiting confirmation.
Order Delivery Status and Orders to Confirm show the economic value of each situation, in the company currency for delivery status, and Customer Order Status can show it as well. Every chart is interactive: a click opens the list of the orders behind it, and from there the operator can review an order down to line and size level and confirm it, releasing it to planning and production.
From status report to list of priorities
The real change is not a new dashboard. It is moving customer service from reporting what happened to acting on what is about to happen, with the economic weight of each order in view. That is what a system of intelligence means in daily operations, and it depends on the same foundations described in Why Cosmica: a stable core, connected data and capabilities that can evolve with the business.

A system of record manages transactions and keeps authoritative data on products, orders, inventory and finance. A system of intelligence uses that trusted data, together with AI and analytics, to support decisions in planning, merchandising, supply chain and finance.
Four things: which orders will miss the delivery date the customer requested, where each order is in the fulfillment process, which orders were not acquired correctly by the system, and which are still waiting for confirmation, each with its economic value.
Order Delivery Status, Customer Order Status, orders blocked during import and Orders to Confirm. They appear when a user logs in with the Customer Service profile, and each chart opens the corresponding list of orders.
